ABOUT

About Me
Hi! Welcome to my blog. I'm Kate, a current Texan college-student living in New Jersey who still loves the smell of books and is over the moon at a good steal from the used-books store. Always with a book or a notebook, I've wanted to become a writer since the second grade. I plan to major in English in college. Now, I am willing to do anything-publisher, editor, author, professor, librarian- as long as it involves books.

Other than reading, I love to write, sing, and travel. I am a Slytherin, a lover of Les Miserables, and a total sucker for dark chocolate.

What I'm Doing
I watched a TED talk given by Ann Morgan where she talked about her year of reading the world. She had looked at her bookshelves and had realized most of the books were written by North American or British authors, and decided to spend a year reading a book from every country. After watching this, I took a look at my bookshelves and decided to follow in her footsteps. So I am on a mission to read 196 books, one from each country, in a longer time frame (3 to 4 years).

However, I am a student, and much of my future studies will require knowledge of high-caliber English literature. So I decided to continue with my current goal of reading 26 classics per year as well.

Together, these two goals will dictate my reading for quite a few years to come. I am very excited and hope that you find this mission as meaningful as I do.

About This Blog
Read and Dream was started in 2014 with only one thing in mind: to share my love of reading. Up until 2016, it has been mainly focused on Young Adult books, my favorite genres being Contemporary, Realistic Fiction, and Historical Fiction. In 2016, I made the decision to read one book from every country in the world (196) along with 26 classics per year. This blog has since then been changed to share the stories that I encounter along the way.

I always want to know your opinion on books I reviews or anything else, so please feel free to leave a comment or contact me! Thank you for checking my blog out!

  1. A fellow Les Mis fan! If you need someone to sing the second part of The Confrontation, I'd be happy to oblige.
