Monday Madness

First school monday madness! I haven't been reading as much lately so I didn't see much of a point in doing this, but I have so many books I would like to read so here goes.

What I'm currently reading:
First of all, I'm amazed at Lois Lowry's story and how developed yet ahead of it's time it was. Second, I haven't even watched the movie but just from the trailer, I don't know how they could've screwed up the movie that much.

This has been on my currently-reading list for a bit now, but I'm honestly only 43 pages into it. I'm kind of afraid of getting into it, and have no idea why,

What I just finished reading:

I'm working on a review for this one, but here's a teaser!

“I leapt eagerly into books. The characters’ lives were so much more interesting than the lonely heartbeat of my own.”
― Ruta SepetysOut of the Easy

What I look forward to reading:

I am literally feeling so overwhelmed by the amount of books I want to read.

Monday Madness!

Okay, while I contemplate how school is tomorrow and I want to die and sob while praying to the seasonal gods to somehow let summer stay forever, here is my Monday Madness today!

What I am currently reading:
Aliens from planet L'eihr made contact two years ago, and now Cara's school is hosting the first foreign exchange...ever. Chosen to be the host, Cara faces the controversy about the new aliens while struggling to make Aelyx, the student, feel at home. That's when she realizes this isn't some cute little deal, and that the consequences may be deadly. Not only that, she has also fallen hard for this alien boy. She must figure out to save them, and her race.

Addicted, so far. For once aliens are not some crazy intergalactic monsters and they're just advanced humans. It's not some cheesy hollywood alien action book either.

What I just finished reading:
Hopefully I'll get reviews out soon, but here are some teasers!

“I am equal to a baby and to a hundred year old lady. I am equal to an airline pilot and a car mechanic. I am equal to you. You are equal to me. It's that universal.
Except that it's not.” - Ask the Passengers

"I think a lot of people want to be someone, but we are scared that if we try, we won't be as good as everyone imagines we could be.” -Love Letters to the Dead

“And then it's always that one word that makes you so different and puts you outside the overlap of everyone else; and that word is so fucking big and loud, it's the only thing anyone ever hears when your name is spoken.

And whenever that happens to us, all the other words that make us the same disappear in its shadow.” -Winger

What I look forward to reading:

Hopefully you'll pick these up. They sound great!

Monday Madness!

Another summer Monday people! Gosh...3 weeks till school starts. Well, here we go!

What I am currently reading:
I'm reading this little baby again, because Marie Lu is coming to Texas teen book festival and I kind of forgot everything that happened. Plus, I actually never got the opportunity to finish the series so I hope to do that before she comes. (I'll have promo for Texas teen book fest soon) This is a very popular book about a wanted "criminal" and the detective, in a futuristic setting.

What I just finished reading:

Reviews are here,so check them out!

What I look forward to reading:

The movie for this bestseller comes out in 17 days, starring Chloe Grace Moretz as the main character. About a girl who has a seemingly perfect life with happy worries and simple choices until one day, she loses it all. A beautiful story about the choices we make in life, and the power of love. Keeping by my pact with myself to read a book before I watch the movie, I'm really excited to read this!

The new novel by James Dashner, the famous author of the Maze Runner series, it's a hyperadvanced technological world about a gamer, and how if he doesn't be careful, the line between game and real life may become blurry. I need to read this because James Dashner is also coming to Texas teen book fest.

That's me on this Monday....:)

Monday Madness! Yet again:)

Welcome to another Monday y'all! (Look at me being all Texan) It's getting to that point in summer when *gasp* you want to go back to school...so to soothe my wishes I've been reading!!

What I am currently reading:
FINALLY. Gosh, I think I said I wanted to read this in March but of course 4 MONTHS later is when I get to read it. A new take on the classic The Island of Doctor Moreau, it's about Juliet, the daughter of a supposed madman. After getting fired from her work as a maid, she finds her childhood friend Montgomery and finds out her father, whom she thought dead, is alive. Why hasn't he contacted her? And what is the infamous surgeon doing with the animals he's bringing?   It's definitely a thriller, keeps you going, keeps you wanting more. I am about at the halfway mark. It's a really refreshing difference from all the science fiction/fantasy going on right now. Read with me?

Teaser: "Father's eyes glowed like embers. Like a storm, the tension in the air returned, crackling like lightning. 'Well, Mr. Prince, I'm afraid you're wrong. you'd be nothing but trouble, you see.' And he jabbed the parasol at Edward's chest."

What I just finished reading:

The #1 bestseller everyone's been talking about but it's an adult novel so I don't think I really can review this from my perspective. (That's to say I was pretty confused throughout the entirety of the book) But a very thrilling, chilling, haunting read that you should check out, if you can deal with adult stuff and not get completely puzzled. (or creeped out)

2 sisters on a reality TV show that they stepped into thinking they were gonna have some sweet revenge on the older sister's ex. Turns out it's a romantic show, and the two are in for some serious drama. Eh. Not really worth the time or the effort it took me to plow through this book. At first, it was really interesting with a new concept and whatnot but towards the end it just goes on and on and the story gets really old and boring. I didn't even bother to do a review of this thing. Should I?

Malley, a 14 year old girl who decides to run off with a guy she met online, but isn't coming back. Richard, her cousin who is determined to find what's wrong. Skink, a 70 year old man with one eye who eats roadkill for dinner. What have they gotten themselves into? A debut teen novel for Carl Hiaasen, which I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with from childhood books like Hoot. (Logan Lerman? Owls? Ring a bell?) A really good read, especially if you're not into the intense, older teen kind of books. This is more younger teen, but still has a thriller mystery feel to it that I really like.

Would you like reviews of these? Comment and tell please!

What I look forward to reading:

Kami Garcia is the coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures series and needless to say, I ADORE THEM. This is a whole new concept, so don't worry about having to read it or whatever. I looked at this and at Icons, the new series by Margaret Stohl, but this just looks lots better.

teaser: "I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me."

Read with me!!!
Love, Kate

Monday Madness

Mondays after spring break are always terror. So I decided to lift my spirits up with a little bit of Monday Madness!

What I am currently reading:
It's interesting. It's a fantasy story set in a world I still don't really understand. I have never read any of Tamora Pierce's works before, and it was really hard for me to get into this world of Dogs and Puppies and whatnot. The story is really slooowww so far, but I don't know, it's a nice read while I wait for my books that are on hold in the library.

What I just finished reading:

Reviews of some of these are out!

What I look forward to reading:
A murder mystery that occurs when Anna's best friend is murdered and she is the main suspect. My really trusted book adviser Jenn told me about it and said it was really good. PS. go look at Jenn's blog.... she's like FAMOUS.
A horror book where Juliet, the main character must stop her mad father from doing ruthless things. Looks really different.

So YA. Yay, at least this made me feel better!

Monday Madness

Monday again people! So here I go...
What I am currently reading:
A great book with an AWESOME heroine. Don't you love it when the girl kicks everyone else's butt I love the world Moira Young has created and the awkward romance:) Look forward to a review!
What I just finished reading:
Instead of a quick review here, check out the review coming soon:)

Here you go the review: Geek Charming Review

What I look forward to reading:
Looks like a really interesting take on werewolves/animal humans stuff. Excited!!
My friend actually recommended this and I literally WORSHIP John Green.

Monday Madness...Kate Reads

Ok, so a Monday off. I take that as a sign to um... READ READ READ.

What I am currently reading:

I know. God, another dusty, old book. That's what I thought too until today. I must have been really desperate because I reached for it thinking, eh, why not. But it's actually a great story that has a lot of beauty. And how she talks about "kindred spirits"! <3 I can't put it down! I have "fallen under her spell" as Marilla puts it.

What I just finished reading:
A great find, personally. It was sitting on my bookshelf, just begging to be read. I started it and I just couldn't finish!
Review: Jonah is 13 years old when a letter comes to him. YOU ARE ONE OF THE MISSING, it says. He ignores it, thinking it an ordinary prank, when his best friend, Chip receives the same letter after he learns that he is adopted. They are sent off on an extraordinary journey, pulling the strings of time, and at the same time, searching for their true identity. They learn about 36 babies who mysteriously appeared at an airport 13 years ago, and they try and unravel the suspicious story behind them.
Thoughts: A great read, but a little slow paced. There is no real action in the book, but there is a lot of suspense. Haddix is one of my favorite authors, and the second book in the series, SENT, is much better than this one.
Rating: 4 kisses out of 5!

Okay, this is one of my all time favorites. I picked it up again after a long time, and once again I was entranced into the world of Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gassy, and Angel.
Review: Max and her "family" are experiments, created by scientists at the horrible place they call the "School". They are 98% human, 2% bird. So, they can FLY. Oh, and did I mention that they are constantly on the run from Erasers, wolf-like humans who are constantly being modified? Join them on their adventure when their most valuable and youngest member, Angel, is taken. What will they do to take her back?
Thoughts: A real nail-biter. Max is witty, strong, and an amazing heroine. You know it won't happen in real life, yet sometimes you expect Erasers to come popping out at you. The entire series is beautiful-thrilling and stunning from start to end.
Rating: 5 kisses out of 5!

What I'm looking forward to reading:
I know, i know. Shame on me, I haven't read it. But I will soon! So look forward to that!:)

Well, well, well. What do we have here? Another sci-fi book you say? Yes. Sci-fi is really not my thing, or so I thought. but I've been really gravitating towards them these days. What do you say? Worth reading?
Last but not least, this baby. I'm really pumped to reading it! The first one was a roller coaster, can't wait for this one! Hey, if you've watched the movie, tell me what you think of it!
