Why not Wednesday!

So I've started a kind of series thing... called.... Why Not Wednesday showing you books for you to pick up because.. you know, why not?

Blurb:(from goodreads) It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.

Liesel Meminger is a foster girl living outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

In superbly crafted writing that burns with intensity, award-winning author Markus Zusak, author of I Am the Messenger, has given us one of the most enduring stories of our time.

Me: I know, I know. You've probably already read it. But if you haven't, it's a great read you won't be able to put down. It has suspense, humor, and history beautifully woven into it. And if you have, read it again. It's surprising what you will find.

Blurb: (from goodreads)Stolen as a child from her large and loving family, and on the run with her mom for more than ten years, Callie has only the barest idea of what normal life might be like. She's never had a home, never gone to school, and has gotten most of her meals from laundromat vending machines. Her dreams are haunted by memories she’d like to forget completely. But when Callie’s mom is finally arrested for kidnapping her, and Callie’s real dad whisks her back to what would have been her life, in a small town in Florida, Callie must find a way to leave the past behind. She must learn to be part of a family. And she must believe that love--even with someone who seems an improbable choice--is more than just a possibility.

Trish Doller writes incredibly real teens, and this searing story of love, betrayal, and how not to lose your mind will resonate with readers who want their stories gritty and utterly true.

Me: This is actually a book on my to-read list. But I met the author at a book festival not to long ago, and still need to read it. So I encourage you to pick it up so we can read it together! It looks like a pretty decent book; so excited!

Blurb: Emaline has lived in Colby her entire life. A small beach tourist town, it attracts all kinds of people, especially to Emaline's family's beach houses. That's when Theo comes in; smart, artistic, Theo, who thinks Emaline is too good for Colby. Emaline must give up her perfect boyfriend and her set destiny for her big dreams of leaving Colby. Will she be able too? Or will she not?

Me: Okay. So let's discuss Sarah Dessen here. She is probably one of my most loved authors, and even though people insist that her books are repetitive and too girly, I picked up What Happened to Goodbye and fell in love with her. I actually met her when she talked about the release of this book-and finally read it 2 weeks ago! It's a really nice book that portrays some really real characters and feelings, the only disappointment with it would be that the romance is not very satisfying from a reader's view.

So, I hope you get the chance to pick these up and read them. :)
