26 CLASSICS!

Hello everyone! Where have I been?? I know, I know, it's been a weird few weeks as I have been awkwardly popping in and then completely disappearing. It appears to me that February may just be one of the busiest months of the year because I really do have SO much going on at the current moment.

But another problem has arisen. I haven't been reading as much, so I haven't had content to really blog about. *gasp* BUT (there's always a but) there is a reason. I have made it a goal to read one classic book every two weeks (more of an obligation than a goal) and this has slowed down my reading considerably. It took me the full 2 weeks to finish Romeo and Juliet, and then I stayed up all night reading a YA novel.

The point being that my reading is going different directions. I think that this was pretty much inevitable as you may be able to tell by my Talkin' About Classics and Time to Read posts. So I'm following through and I decided to make this a SPECIAL thing on my blog- because why not?

So I introduce to you...the 26 Classics event. If I read one classic every two weeks, it eventually adds up to 26 classics per year (WOWEEE). Basically, I will just be reviewing all those classics and putting the number I have read so far...and I may occasionally step in with my feelings during the novel, or TBR Classics that I REALLLY want to read.

This means I am taking all available recommendations for Classics! Give them all to me, because I have plenty of slots to fill up. I have read 3 classics so far, and will have Romeo and Juliet up ASAP.

For now, Slaughterhouse-Five HERE WE GO!

  1. I really enjoyed Frankenstein and Jane Eyre. On the shorter side is Pride and Prejudice and Of Mice and Men. Also by Steinbeck is The Grapes of Wrath.

If you like science fiction, try The Day of the Triffids. It's not as well known but it's a classic in the genre. The Time Machine (and anything by HG Wells) is also really good.

If you read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, I suggest finding an abridged version to avoid all of the bio-techno jargon.

    1. Wow these are fantastic recommendations! Thank you so much Christina!

I really am interested in reading The Grapes of Wrath and Frankenstein. I'll have to check out The Day of the Triffids.

  2. Good luck in your event! I had to read R and J for school, and to be honest, I hated it. But hopefully you liked it! Some really good classics are Julius Caesar, The Great Gatsby and Pride and Prejudice. They all really stuck with me :)

    1. I just finished Romeo and Juliet and it was pretty painful...Unfortunately, I think the fact that it was for school makes it 10x worse. Thank you!

  3. I really like this idea and I hope you manage to read all 26! If you still need recommendations, We Have Always Lived in the Castle and A Streetcar Named Desire are very good, albeit modern classics. The Importance of Being Earnest isn't bad either. :)
