Update + TBR

Hey guys! I'm back today with a lot of  book titles that I want to discuss. Books I'm reading, my TBR list, books I'm buying, and books I've just read.

Books I'm Reading
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

For my English extra-credit, I am struggling through, but greatly enjoying, this extremely dense novel. The time period and the political atmosphere is fascinating, and Dickens is truly a master at creating characters and storylines that are beautifully woven together.

*Currently at the part where Darnay has just left for Paris, btw. Beginning of third "book"*

My TBR list (in the near future)
Kids of Appetite by David Arnold
*ARC, Coming out in Sept. 2016, received from publisher*

Actually, I don't really know what this book is about at the moment. All I know is 1) the cover is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and 2) David Arnold's debut, Mosquitoland, was absolutely beautiful. I am UNABLE to contain my excitement of being able to read this...especially before it hits the shelves! EEK!
Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee
*ARC, Coming out in May 2016, received from publisher*

The author of Under a Painted Sky, I LOVE that Stacey Lee writes about Asian-American characters while also depicting the history. It creates such an unique, special pride to an Asian-American reader who is looking for more books that represent her race. Can't wait for this one!

Emma by Jane Austen
*Next classic for 26 classics!*

I'm not super obsessed with Jane Austen just yet..but I am eager to join her near-religious following. I've read the first few chapters of Emma and it seems quirky, intriguing, and I just adore the setting/tone of all of Austen's books. The complex relationships of friendship, mentorship, and love and all their expressions...gotta love classics. :)

Books I'm Buying:
Mosquitoland by David Arnold

Seeing Kids of Appetite made me want to buy Mosquitoland right away (How do I not have it?!) so I'm going and purchasing from the good ole' Amazon.com.

Books I've Read (but haven't reviewed)
Tomboy by Liz Prince

Such a good graphic novel that is easily readable, and has adorable drawings that help the story flow. It explores the conceptions of gender in our modern society, as a memoir about a girl who isn't a boy...but isn't really a "girl" either. Definitely worth reading.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Saenz

HOW HAVE I NOT REVIEWED THIS? Seriously, Kate, what is wrong with you? (You know there's a problem when I address myself in the third person) This book was beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, insightful, heart-breaking, just complete art. I cried a little bit (okay, quite a bit) and I loved the friendship between the two boys.

BEAT THE SCALE. really. Please go read this.

Wow! You stuck with me till the end. Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you next time!

What books are you reading, have read, or want to read?
